New single Thank You For Being A Friend by The Shits
The Shits have released Thank You For Being A Friend, the second track taken from their upcoming LP Diet Of Worms. Due April 3 via Rocket Recordings, the album follows the Leeds-based quintet’s 2023 release You’re A Mess. The record consists of eight tracks built on rhythmic attrition and vocal invective, recorded by a lineup that migrated from Newcastle-upon-Tyne to the West Yorkshire DIY circuit.

Vocalist Callum Howe frames the band’s current output as a byproduct of aimless transit through the streets of West Yorkshire, citing a lack of alternative occupation as the primary driver for the group’s continued activity. This translates into a sound characterized by abrasive guitar textures and a persistent, heavy-handed intensity.
Formed in Newcastle-upon-Tyne, The Shits consist of Callum Howe, guitarists Joel S. Thompson and Joe Gargett, bassist Phillip Todd, and drummer Gerard S. J. Brown. Before their tenure with Rocket Recordings, the group established their presence in the UK DIY scene through a series of cassettes and the 2020 album Punishment, released on Hominid Sounds. Bassist Phillip Todd is a long-standing figure in the British underground, maintaining the experimental project Ashtray Navigations. Diet Of Worms will be available in both LP and digital formats.
