Description: The Sick Man of Europe releases new single Profane Not Profound ahead of debut album out 20 June via The Leaf Label, with UK and EU tour dates announced.

Operating with minimal external information, the project surfaced via a typewritten letter and a manila envelope containing a demo tape. The presentation—text, artwork, formatting—suggested intent rather than mystery. That controlled aesthetic carries into the music, which rejects traditional rock instrumentation in favour of strict, self-imposed limitations: no live drums, no bass guitar, minimal processing. The recorded material was assembled under these constraints in pursuit of what the artist describes as clarity.

Profane Not Profound follows Obsolete, the first track completed using these restrictions. Both appear on the full-length debut, which also compiles material from the Moderate Air Quality EP, previously issued on cassette in February. A limited ‘Sanguine Red’ vinyl edition of 300 copies will be distributed through independent record stores and Bandcamp, in addition to standard black vinyl and CD formats.

Musically, the project cites Bauhaus, Joy Division, Neu!, Swans, and Suicide as orientation points. The connection is less stylistic homage and more about structural rigour—each track constructed under specific limitations, deliberately at odds with current production standards.

In live contexts, TSMOE recently supported Snapped Ankles on tour and has several shows scheduled through the rest of 2025, including Manchester Psych Fest and Left of the Dial in Rotterdam.
