Kitten Robot Records presents Asylum Harbour by Tombstones In Their Eyes

Los Angeles-based band Tombstones In Their Eyes has released the single Gimme Some Pain, accompanied by a video created by Italian multimedia artist Francesca Bonci. The song is part of the group’s latest album, Asylum Harbour, which is now available via Kitten Robot Records.

The band, which incorporates elements of psychedelic rock and shoegaze, features long-standing members John Treanor (vocals, guitar), Stephen Striegel (drums), Courtney Davies (vocals), Phil Cobb (guitar), and Paul Boutin (guitar). They are joined by recent additions Joel Wasko (bass) and Clea Cullen (vocals). The album was produced and engineered by Paul Roessler at Kitten Robot Studios. Roessler, associated with projects such as 45 Grave, Twisted Roots, The Screamers, and Nina Hagen, co-produced the record alongside John Treanor.

The album follows Sea of Sorrow and presents a shift in theme, moving beyond the emotional turmoil reflected in the previous release. It includes previously released singles Sweet as Pie, I’m Not Like That, In Your Eyes, and I Like to Feel Good.

Treanor wrote Gimme Some Pain in May 2023, describing it as a reflection of personal challenges experienced during that time. He stated that the lyrics function as a repetitive mantra, encapsulating his mental state. The song features a straightforward chord progression, written on acoustic guitar. The chorus emerged spontaneously and was structured to accommodate high-energy vocal delivery.

The video for Gimme Some Pain was directed by Francesca Bonci, who previously worked on the visual production for Mirror, another track from the album. Bonci has collaborated with artists such as Collin Hegna of The Brian Jonestown Massacre for his project Federale, Peter G. Holmström of The Dandy Warhols (Pete International Airport), and Rachel Goswell of Slowdive. Her work incorporates analog techniques, photographic elements, and vibrant color palettes.

Tombstones In Their Eyes originated as a collaboration between John Treanor in Los Angeles and James Cooper in New York City, initially exchanging demos before evolving into a full band. Treanor uses songwriting as a means to manage anxiety and depression, creating music that serves as an outlet for expression. Over the years, the band has released multiple recordings, incorporating psychedelic and shoegaze influences.
