Dream of the Egg will be available on November 15 through Future Days Shop
Tomo Katsurada has released a new track, “Moshimo,” the opening song for his upcoming debut solo record, Dream of the Egg, set to be released on November 15, 2024. This release will be accompanied by a picture book illustrated by Tokyo-based artist Shoko Otake. The album will be published by Future Days Shop, a record label and concept store located in Amsterdam. The store, co-founded by Katsurada, also operates as a workshop focusing on music, art, and clothing. Read our interview with Tomo Katsurada.

The album Dream of the Egg consists of five tracks:
- Moshimo
- Zen Bungalow
- Interlude
- Inner Garden
- Dream of the Egg
The release follows the previous single “Zen Bungalow.” In collaboration with British musician Jonny Nash, who contributed guitar parts, Katsurada’s new track integrates soft guitar melodies with vocals, offering a minimalist composition that introduces the album.
Dream of the Egg draws inspiration from the 1920s Japanese children’s book Yume No Tamago (“Dream of the Egg”), reflecting a period of personal transformation for Katsurada in 2024. The album was recorded using basic materials available at the time, resulting in an unpolished and spontaneous sound. Katsurada opted for organic methods, avoiding rhythm clicks and conventional tuning systems, creating a raw auditory experience.
Accompanying the album is a limited-edition picture book, designed by Shoko Otake and published by Amsterdam-based bookstore Terry Bleu. The book, with a print run of 500 copies, features 20 pages of artwork that complements the musical release. This edition will also include two 7-inch vinyl records and a manual-play flexidisc, offering a physical component to the album’s release.
About Tomo Katsurada
Tomo Katsurada is a Japanese musician, best known as the founder and lead vocalist of the psychedelic rock band Kikagaku Moyo. Born in Tokyo, Katsurada co-founded Kikagaku Moyo in 2012, gaining prominence within the international psychedelic music scene. The band’s sound, characterized by a blend of traditional Japanese music and modern psychedelic elements, earned them critical attention. Kikagaku Moyo disbanded in 2022 after releasing several albums and performing globally. Katsurada has since focused on his solo career and creative ventures, including the establishment of Future Days Shop.
