Ty Segall’s ‘Love Rudiments’ Album Release & New Single

Ty Segall Announces New Album ‘Love Rudiments’ to be Released on August 30th, Shares New Single “The Dance”.

Ty Segall will release his new album, ‘Love Rudiments,’ on August 30 via Drag City. This instrumental album focuses on percussive music, marking a departure from his usual style. Following his earlier release this year, the double album ‘Three Bells,’ ‘Love Rudiments’ explores the emotional path of a love affair through music, venturing into new musical and emotional territories.

In ‘Love Rudiments,’ Segall’s first love, the drums, takes center stage. Typically starting his recording process with drum tracks, this album emphasizes percussion throughout. It goes beyond a simple solo drum album, incorporating timpani, vibraphone, xylophone, and electronic drums. These elements create a rich auditory experience, reflecting the complexities of a romantic relationship from its passionate start to its contemplative end.

The album announcement comes with the release of a new single, “The Dance (Edit).” This track offers a preview of one of the four song cycles in ‘Love Rudiments.’ It captures the emotions of a couple’s first dance, using drum kit, vibraphone, tambourine, wood blocks, and electronic drum pads to convey attraction, anxiety, arousal, and connection. “The Dance” sits between “Getting Ready” and “First Touch,” representing different stages of emotional interaction.

‘Love Rudiments’ embodies the passion and intensity present in Segall’s music. This album, performed on an orchestral batterie, delves into the nuanced passages of human interaction. It will be available on August 30, 2024. In support of the release, Segall has announced new tour dates, with tickets going on sale on Friday, July 12 at 11:00 a.m. CT. These performances will feature solo acoustic guitar shows, offering a contrast to the percussive focus of the new album.
