Description: Postulate by Ujif_notfound arrives 9 September 2025 via I Shall Sing Until My Land Is Free, delivering noise, electronics, and protest from Ukraine.
The album diverges from Potopalskyi’s earlier focus on methodical, system-driven music, instead presenting a set of abrasive tracks. Characterized by rapid tempo changes, saturated noise, and fractured beats, Postulate draws parallels to the clinical minimalism of Mika Vainio, the mechanical repetition of Pan Sonic, the controlled chaos of Autechre, and the metallic timbres present in early Einstürzende Neubauten recordings.
Ujif_notfound originated as a project focused on the interaction between user and interface, with Potopalskyi employing real-time, program-based generative music in both live and studio settings. These live performances rely on algorithmic processes and are considered impossible to duplicate, while studio albums often reflect the same real-time ethos. Projects under this moniker include interactive installations, generative algorithmic scores, and pieces such as “Car-Beat”, which translates vehicular movement into musical data.
Potopalskyi’s broader work covers a range of electronic and media arts. He composed the electro-acoustic opera “Limb” for the National Opera of Ukraine and designed audio-visual shows, such as those staged for the 2017 restoration of Kyiv’s Independence Square fountains. Potopalskyi established BLCK BOX, the first Ukrainian school for new media art, and Kontrapunkt, an organization focused on Ukrainian experimental music performances. His installations and projects have been presented at venues including the National Art Museum of Ukraine, Mystetskyi Arsenal, Tetramatica, CSM / Foundation Center for Contemporary Art, and the Ukrainian Biennale of Digital and Media Art.
Postulate is distributed in both limited transparent silver and black splatter vinyl and digital formats. The album’s release is coordinated through I Shall Sing Until My Land Is Free, a label directing its efforts toward Ukrainian resistance and humanitarian initiatives.
Georgy Potopalskyi, born in Ukraine, works across electronic music, media art, and visual installation. His practice combines performance, composition, and the development of digital systems. Potopalskyi’s career includes work in both institutional and independent contexts, and his projects frequently address the interplay between technology, social reality, and personal experience.
