Wand Announces “Goldfish” Single and Video, Along with New EP and Demos Album Release on October 25, 2024

On October 25, 2024, Wand will release a new 12″ EP, featuring the pre-release single “Help Desk” and a track called “Goldfish,” which originally appeared as a bonus on the band’s recent album Vertigo. The EP will also include remixes by Beat Detectives, Dean Spunt, and Dead Rider. Alongside this, the band will release In a Capsule Underground, a collection of demos and previously unreleased material from the era of their debut album Ganglion Reef.

The new single, “Goldfish,” is accompanied by an animated music video created from recently-digitized artwork by the late Bruce Bickford, an animator best known for his collaborations with Frank Zappa. Both “Help Desk” and “Goldfish” are part of the sessions that resulted in Vertigo, a record crafted from extensive jam sessions before being finalized through a process akin to automatic writing. The remixes included on the EP offer reinterpretations of the material, bringing additional layers and perspectives to the songs.

The In a Capsule Underground album features the earliest recordings by Wand, including demos from the time of Ganglion Reef. These recordings present alternative versions of tracks from the album, offering a glimpse into the band’s early development. The album also includes the previously unreleased demo “The Leap,” which combines post-punk and new wave influences with psychedelic elements.

Wand will support these releases with an upcoming tour, beginning on the West Coast of the United States in September 2024, followed by a European tour in October and November.
