Description: World Sanguine Report releases Songs From The Harbour on April 25 via God Unknown Records, featuring compositions by Andrew Plummer and Ruth Goller.

Songs From The Harbour was developed by Andrew Plummer (vocals, guitar) in collaboration with Ruth Goller (bass, vocals), Matthew Bourne (harmonium), and Will Glaser (drums). The album was recorded in June 2023 at Lightship 95 Studios and in July 2023 at The Old Cowshed. Recording engineers David Holmes and Alex Bonney worked on the project, with Plummer and Bonney handling the mixing. The album was mastered by Lewis Hopkins.

The recording sessions took place aboard Lightship 95 Studios, a floating studio on the River Thames. The musicians performed together in a single room, limiting themselves to two takes per track. The influence of the river environment is reflected in the album’s sound, with ambient elements from the surroundings incorporated into the final recordings.

Plummer, who composed the majority of the album, stated that Songs From The Harbour represents a shift from the more theatrical nature of previous releases. The album focuses on direct musical expression and interaction among the musicians. The recording approach was minimalistic, aiming to capture spontaneity and rawness in the performances.

Two tracks, “Into The Light” and “About Death”, were composed by Ruth Goller. The album also features a cover of John Lurie’s “No Kids.”

World Sanguine Report will support the album with a live performance at Servant Jazz Quarters, London, on April 22, 2025. Additionally, a three-track EP, I Am Bunny (GOD127), featuring material from the same recording sessions, will be released on February 28, 2025.

World Sanguine Report was formed in 2008 as a vehicle for Andrew Plummer’s compositions, combining avant-rock and experimental elements. The band has previously released Third One Rises (2009), Lost In A Dream (2018), and Skeleton Blush (2020). Over the years, the group has been associated with the avant-garde, jazz, and experimental music scenes in the UK.
