Xeno & Oaklander Release New Single “O Vermillion” and Announce North American Tour
Xeno & Oaklander, the synth-pop duo consisting of Liz Wendelbo and Sean McBride, have released a new single, “O Vermillion,” from their upcoming album, ‘Via Negativa (in the doorway light)’. The album will be available on November 15, 2024, through Dais Records.
Description: Xeno & Oaklander release new single O Vermillion ahead of their album Via Negativa, due in November, alongside a North American tour announcement.
This marks the band’s eighth studio album, characterized by its synth-driven sound. The title ‘Via Negativa (in the doorway light)’ is inspired by the idea of “the study of what not to do” and represents a “negative image of a positive, the other side.” The song “O Vermillion” features bilingual elements and touches upon the theme of bloodstones.
The album was recorded in Autumn 2023 at the duo’s Connecticut home, which also functions as a synthesizer laboratory and mixing studio. The production involved the transformation of initial piano compositions into complex modular synthesizer arrangements, adding tuned percussion and other sonic textures.
Xeno & Oaklander have also announced a series of North American live dates, beginning on November 18, 2024, in Montreal, QC, and ending on December 21, 2024, in Philadelphia, PA. They will also perform at the Grauzone Festival in Den Haag, Netherlands, on February 8, 2025.

Xeno & Oaklander is a minimal electronic project based in Brooklyn, New York, formed by Liz Wendelbo and Sean McBride in 2004. The duo is recognized for their analog-driven synth sound, employing vintage instruments to create music that blends elements of minimal wave and synth-pop. Their approach is deeply influenced by early electronic music, and they have consistently maintained a focus on using hardware synthesizers and analog recording techniques. The band’s discography includes several albums released through Dais Records, and they are known for live performances that emphasize the direct manipulation of analog equipment.
